Το 1978  ιδρύθηκε η Κίνηση απο μία ομάδα προοδευτικών Κυπρίων, με στόχο:

1. Υπαρξη πραγματικής Ισότητας μεταξύ όλων των ανθρώπων, σε όλους τους τομείς της ζωής. 

2. Προάσπιση των  Ανθρωπίνων  Δικαιωμάτων.

3. Εξάλειψη  κάθε μορφής βίας, της φτώχειας, των ναρκωτικών, της εμπορίας και εκμετάλλευσης προσώπων.

4. Ισότητα στη συμμετοχή της Γυναίκας στα Κέντρα Λήψης Αποφάσεων.

Μετά απο προσπάθειες αρκετών χρόνων,το 1988, η Κίνηση ίδρυσε τα Κέντρα Αμεσης Βοήθειας Θυμάτων Βίας στην Οικογένεια, στη βάση των οποίων ίδρυθηκε ο Σύνδεσμος για την Πρόληψη και Αντιμετώπιση της Βίας στην Οικογένεια.Προωθήθηκε και κερδίθηκε η τροποίηση του Οικογενειακού Δικαίου,  η Σύνταξη της Οικοκυράς, η Ιση Αμοιβή για Ισης Αξίας Εργασία κ.α. Μένουν πολλά ακόμη να γίνουν, γι αυτό και ο αγώνας συνεχίζεται.

Η  "Π.Κ.Ι.Δ.Ι.Ε" ειναι μέλος του Εθνικού μηχανισμού για τα Δικαιώματα της Γυναίκας, κάτω απο την ομπρέλλα του Υπουργείου Δικαιοσύνης και Δημόσιας Τάξης. Σαν μέλος της Παγκόσμιας Ενωσης Γυναικών  "International Alliance of Women" (http://www.womenalliance.org/) ο αγώνας για τα δικαιώματα της γυναίκας επεκτείνεται στις περισσότερες χώρες του κόσμου. 

Ειναι υπερκομματική οργάνωση και δέχεται μέλη ενήλικες γυναίκες και άνδρες.

Welcome to the Website of Pan-Cyprian Movement for EQUAL RIGHTS & EQUAL RESPONSIBILITIES (P.M.E.R-E.R.).
 
In 1978, a group of progressive Cypriots founded the Movement aiming at promoting true equality between all people in all areas of life, the Protection of Human Rights, the elimination of all forms of violence, poverty, drugs, trafficking and exploitation of persons, and the equal participation of women in decision making.

The accomplishments of the Movement and its actions over the year are numerous. A few of those are the following:

1. Established (1988) the Centre for Emergency Assistance for Victims of Domestic Violence.

2. Established, as a follow up on the Centre for Emergency Assistance for Victims of Domestic Violence, the Association for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Family was then established,.

3. Promoted and won the modification of Family Law, a Pension for housewives, and equal pay for equal work.

The P.M.E.R.-E.R is a member of the National Mechanism for Women's Rights, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Justice and Public Order. The movement is an organization without any political orientation or affiliation which accepts members all adult women and men who are interested in promoting equality and justice.

As a member of the World Association of Women "International Alliance of Women" (http://www.womenalliance.org/) the Movement supports that struggle for women's rights which extend to most countries of the world. Much remains to be done in the areas we are targeting, so the struggle continues. The more members the Movement has the better the outcome would be.
